Porduct Overview
EKDB16S(L)-R designed as a compact sub‑distribution board, this configuration uses an 80A DP RCCB as the incomer and omits a main switch, relying on upstream isolation. It is perfect for extensions, garages, or outbuildings where a smaller, RCD‑protected board is required. The steel enclosure meets BS EN 61439‑3 and retains installer‑friendly details for tidy, fast wiring. SL versions add a door lock.
Use Cases:
Garage or shed power installations.
Home office or extension sub-boards.
Dedicated protection for high-risk areas like shower circuits or outdoor lighting.
Q1: Why does this board not have a main switch?
A1: It's designed as a sub-board, which must be fed from a dedicated, correctly rated protective device (e.g., an MCB) in the main consumer unit, which provides the necessary isolation.
Q2: What is the RCD rating?
A2: The incomer is a double-pole 80A, 30mA Type A RCD.
Q3: How many free ways are available?
A3: After the 2-pole RCD, a 10-way board provides 8 free ways for final circuits.
Q4: Can I use this as the main consumer unit for a property?
A4: No, this unit lacks a main isolating switch and is intended for sub-distribution only.
Q5: Is a lockable version offered?
A5: Yes, select the "SL" variant for an integrated door lock, useful for securing boards in accessible areas.
